As part of our unit of work, "Taking Action", we are learning about how people take action on problems that face people locally and globally. Some of our students were able to tell us about the water problems in countries where they came from. This generated some interest in this issue.
We will be raising money in our school. Students will be preparing short presentations on the subject and speaking to some other grades in our school.
We are hoping to raise as much as possible!
A description of the problem from Water.org:
Every minute a child dies from a water-related disease, and diarrhea remains the fourth leading cause of death of children under the age of five worldwide. The problem is enormous but solutions are available. Kids with access to safe water are healthier and can attend school regularly.
We know there are a lot of worthy charities out there. We’ve created our own fundraiser for Water.org because safe water is necessary for life. The water crisis is something we can help solve. We hope you agree by giving whatever amount you can to support our efforts.
For every $25 that we raise, Water.org can give someone access to safe water. Co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, Water.org has been helping people develop sustainable solutions for more than 20 years. Together, we can change lives with safe water.
