Two years ago I made a decision to create a bucket list in order to follow my heart and achieve my goals. One of those goals was to commit to a special charity and through my pursuit I found Water.org. I learned about the gravity of the water crisis and I encountered two statistics that empassion me:
Every 90 SECONDS a child dies of a water-related disease.
Women and children spend 125 MILLION HOURS EVERY DAY walking and collecting water for domestic use.
We are fortunate to live in a place where this is almost impossible to comprehend, but it is a reality for 663 million people in our world each day. The problem is enormous, but Water.org is providing successful, progressive, and sustainable solutions.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to run the 2016 Boston Marathon on April 18th in support of Water.org. I began running one year ago with a 'couch to 5K program' and quickly discovered joy, clarity and camaraderie. I often think about the distances I run for fitness others must endure on a daily basis to survive. I am inspired by the work being done by Water.org and the combination of these two goals is especially meaningful to me.
For every $25 that I raise, Water.org can give someone access to safe water for life. Co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, Water.org has been helping people develop sustainable solutions for more than 25 years. Together, we can change lives with safe water. Please join me.
Thank you for taking a moment to read about my fundraiser and to learn about the water crisis.
Thank you for your donation and your support.
With much love, Jaimee
