No Water in Cheverly!
The water is off in our fair hamlet of Cheverly, Maryland, USA. School is closed and the citizens are all stirred up.
But think about this: In places like Ethiopia, only a small minority of the people have access to safe, clean water ... ever. In Biruk and Netsanet's home village, the women walk hours, with buckets and jugs on their heads and in their arms, to bring home water for cooking and drinking and bathing.
In places like Ethiopia, a child dies from a water-related disease every 20 seconds, and diarrhea remains the second leading cause of death of children under the age of five.
So we're inconvenienced for a day or two. Big deal. Let's put it in perspective and give a few dollars to help bring water to the areas of the world that need it most.
