ORIGINAL POST: Around the world, 750 million men, women and children need access to safe water. This negatively impacts their health, keeps children from attending school, and traps millions of people in a cycle of poverty. This all changes when solutions to access safe water are implemented.

I’ve created my own fundraiser for Water.org because I feel like this is something I can tangibly help with. For every $25 that I raise, Water.org can give someone access to safe water.

The Challenge: To accomplish my goal, I will be competing against myself in one day of physical activity challenges, starting with 18 holes of golf (walking, of course). I will then bike from the golf course for 8 miles. After my bike ride, I will hop off and run a 5k to the Heath Pool where I will *attempt to swim 100m.

My goal total can be broken down as such: 1. Raise $25 for each hole of golf played ($450, 18 people given access to safe water.) 2. Raise $25 for each mile biked. ($200, 8 people given access to safe water.) 3. Raise $50 for each kilometer run ($250, 10 people given access to water.) 4. Raise $1 for each meter swam (swum?) ($100, 4 people given access to safe water.)

Total: $1,000. 40 people provided with access to safe drinking water to dramatically improve their health and quality of life.

Whatever you can give is, of course, greatly appreciated. By me and those who will directly receive the benefit of your donation.

As I prepare for this event, please also consider joining me in praying for the following: -The 40 specific individuals I hope to help who are currently without access to safe water -The more than 750 million men, women, and children globally who desperately need safe drinking water -The workers who implement these systems -People in positions of authority to influence public policy on these issues

Final Logistics: My fundraiser is open until October 28th, a default chosen by the system. However, I hope to do this challenge on August 15th, as the pool closes for the summer on the 16th. If you want to give after the fact, though, I'm certainly not going to say no. Should you have any questions or would like to participate with me in the physical challenges, please feel free to contact me directly.

*Re: Swimming: I am not now, nor have I ever been, a strong swimmer. This will be the most difficult event for me, as it will be both physically strenuous and visually humiliating. I will most likely alternate my swimming "styles" several times in 100m, but if you can forgive my sloppiness, I'd still like to try for a good cause :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I hope you'll consider joining my team in any capacity!
