It's Shef-tember!
It's Shef-tember!
Also known as my birthday month! This year I'm starting a fundraiser with Water.org to get children clean, safe drinking water and prevent them from deadly water-related diseases and diarrhea.
If you know me, you know I'm always thirsty and pretty picky about water. I like it clean, cold and in large amounts. I've seen first-hand families outside of the U.S. without this vital asset and it's pretty upsetting to me.
This year for my birthday, I'm asking my friends and family to skip out on the cards, gifts, strippers, candy grams, clowns, extravagant hot air balloon rides, and whatever else you all had in mind to celebrate my 27th birthday (that IS what you all had in mind right?)...Instead, please donate to my fundraiser.
Money is tight (remember, you're talking to a journalist here) and so I understand not everyone has the funds to spare. But I'm not asking for a minimum amount: whatever you can chip in, is more than enough and means the world to me and to many children in India, Africa and other parts of the world that don't have access to clean water.
Thanks All! And Happy Shef-tember!
Here's information from Water.org: Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease and diarrhea remains the second leading cause of death of children under the age of five. The problem is enormous but we can make a difference. Kids can be healthy and stay in school with safe water.
For only $25 Water.org can get someone safe water for life. Co-founded by Matt Damon, Water.org has been helping people get sustainable solutions for over twenty years. We can make a difference in the world, we can help change someone's life.
