As most of you know, for the past two years I have been physically unable to work. During that time, I have been searching for some little known organizations that I could participate in from home. I came across a segment on the news about Matt Damon and his organization, www.water.org, and immediately found something I wanted to be involved in. Please check out the site when you have a few minutes. In the meantime, take a look at your water consumption in a month, and how much we take for granted a toilet, a bath, clean clothes, watering our lawns, and most importantly, unlimited CLEAN water to keep ourselves and our PETS hydrated and healthy.
Please take a quick minute to learn a few facts:
CHILDREN: Every 21 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease, and diarrhea remains the second leading cause of death of children under the age of five worldwide. The problem is enormous but solutions are available. Kids with access to safe water are healthier and can attend school regularly.
GIRLS AND WOMEN: Imagine if you had to walk a few miles instead of a few feet for a glass of water. This is the reality for millions of women and girls. Collectively, women spend more than 200 million hours every day walking and collecting water for domestic use. When women gain access to water the girls can go to school and get education instead of hauling water all day, and women can work and raise their families.
For every $25 that I raise, Water.org can give someone access to safe water for life. Co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, Water.org has been helping people develop sustainable solutions for more than 20 years. Together, we can change lives with safe water.
I know there are many charities in which you all take part in, but if you feel like helping me make a difference that will last forever for those with such a basic need, please help me out.
