Danielle's 2014 NYC Marathon for Water.org

Danielle Chaplick

I’m running the New York City Marathon on November 2nd and am dedicating this year’s number to raising money for a very important cause. Co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, Water.org is a nonprofit organization that has transformed hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia, and Central America by providing access to safe water and sanitation. Every 21 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease, and diarrhea remains the second leading cause of death of children under the age of five worldwide. The problem is enormous but solutions are available. Children with access to safe water are healthier and can attend school regularly.

This will be my third marathon in NYC since 2010, and eighth overall. It is one of the most exciting experiences I’ve participated in over the years and running in honor of this particular cause will make this life event that much more meaningful. I believe safe water is necessary for life. The water crisis is something that I believe to be solvable. I hope you consider donating any amount to helping this cause.

For every $25 that I raise, Water.org can give someone access to safe water for life.
