Hi Friends -

As many of you know, our roommate Cullen moved out towards the end of September. What you might not know (as I didn't) is that he shut off our account with the San Francisco Water Department on his way out the door.

As a result, Wasserman and I found ourselves without water in the apartment for about 12 hours last night and today. This morning before work, I had to go across the street and buy 4 gallons of water to turn into a shower. It wasn't pretty.

By 11AM this morning Wasserman had successfully gotten our water turned back on. I of course spent a good portion of the morning complaining about this situation and then I got to thinking about what it might be like to live without access to clean water (on demand at any temperature) regularly and after spending a few hours feeling like a real asshole for complaining, I've decided (with Wasserman) to start the "1810 Pacific Campaign for Clean Water." We hope that you will take a minute out of your day and help provide clean water to those who don't have it - and even if you don't donate, pause for a moment and think about how lucky we are to have clean water, and clean electricity, and all of the other things that we take for granted, but shouldn't.

I'll match all donations dollar for dollar.

Eli
