Around the world, 780 million men, women and children lack access to safe water. The women and children who are tasked with collecting water often have to travel hours, keeping them from going to school or earning money in other ways. To make matters worse, the water they get is often contaminated, causing 3.4 million deaths each year from water-born illnesses.
Luckily, we can help. By implementing solutions to access safe water, we can help stop the cycle of poverty. I believe in Water.org because it is an excellent charity that works WITH communities, establishing projects that empower individuals, especially women; this community involvement is what allows Water.org's projects to be sustainable over a long period of time. Water.org is incredibly reputable, earning top scores on Charity Navigator and prioritizing transparency, sustainability, and innovation. They build wells, educate the public about proper sanitation, give micro finance loans, install toilets, and more.
For every $25 that we raise, Water.org can give someone access to safe water.
