Safe and good drinking water is a major problems in the oil rich region of Niger Delta. Yet, everywhere is creeks, swamps and rivers, heavily contaminated with oil and gas pollutions from the oil and gas producing companies. The river waters is unsafe and unclean, full of debris from the ocean and highly salty. Therefore, to have access to a safe clean water, the rich and wealthy resorts to private drilling of water boreholes in their homes. The poor are left stranded to drink from this unsafe sources of water. This informs my desire to contribute to the provision of safe water to at least 500 people in 2016.
