Clean Water for Ethiopia Fundraiser

Avonlea Martin

Hi! My name is Avonlea and I am 13 years old. I am a singer/songwriter who would love to make a difference in the world. My little brother, Amani, was adopted from Ethiopia in 2009. When my mom flew over to Africa to pick him up she was shocked by the lack of clean water. My little brother had a horrible case of Giardia when he came home. I have been wanting to use my music to promote a great charity and I am so excited to fundraise for water.org and help to make clean water available for everyone.

I will be holding a musical fundraising event in Sebastopol at Aubergine on Sunday, October 20th from 2-5pm. I will be performing all my original music as well as a few covers. There will also be a raffle with great prizes. I hope to pack the house on October 20th as well as get online donations from those of you who would like to help but won't be able to make it to the event.

Every 21 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease, and diarrhea remains the second leading cause of death of children under the age of five worldwide. The problem is enormous but solutions are available. Kids with access to safe water are healthier and can attend school regularly.

The water crisis is something I feel I can help solve. I hope you agree by giving whatever amount you can to support my efforts.

For every $25 that I raise, Water.org can give someone access to safe water for life. Co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, Water.org has been helping people develop sustainable solutions for more than 20 years. Together, we can change lives with safe water.

Thank you all so much!! :)
